For a lot of people, in fact, I believe for most people (maybe I am generalising?), the level of success someone achieves is measured by how much money they have in the bank, how many holiday homes they have by the beach, the luxurious holidays they go on, where they lie on the “wealthiest people ranking” or how much they can spend on entertainment.
In general success is then measured by what can be seen and experienced externally.
How many times have you stopped and asked: Did he accumulate his wealth honestly? How many lives, hopes and dreams did he destroy on his road to success? I know, I know I am generalising and certainly not all people with money are dishonest. Far from it. If you are running a growing business, you just need to find those honest people. It was Richard Branson who said: “somewhere in the world there are honest people just waiting to do business with you” (not a direct quote).
So, if success is not all about money, what is then? Well, success consist of two elements:
- Money; and
- Integrity/Honesty/People Skills/Compassion/Care/Happiness (let’s call it character)
Character defines who you are, what you stand for, how you approach your goals, how you approach and treat people, and more.
Therefore, it is the mental and moral qualities that is distinctive to you, and you alone! And you need it in abundance.
Therefore, true success consist of not only money, but character in abundance, and the combination of these components. Later I will go into how you can apply the formula to determine your level of success, but for now we will suffice with the following formula:
Success = Money x Character2
